Times Square Video Billboards Hacked Using an iPhone?

The iPhone has been known for many useful things, but hacking Times Square billboards is a first.
A video has been posted on YouTube showing a man who uses his iPhone to hijack video billboards in Times Square. CBS news has commented on the video, claiming that they would assume it’s fake, but if it’s in fact real, they’ll be the first to purchase one…
“First off I’m going to state that I do not know if this is in fact real or fake. My gut is telling me it has to be fake… but if it’s real, I’m so going to buy one!
Here’s some words from the hacker on how he did it:
The way it works is pretty simple: plug in my transmitter into the iphone 4 and play back any video clip. you can play it through the ipod feature or through the camera roll. the transmitter instantly sends the video signal to the video repeater and the video repeater overrides any video screen that it’s being held next to. it doesn’t matter what shape or size the hacked screen is because the hack video will simply keep its correct dimensions and the rest of the hacked space will stay black.
i chose times square for my demo because it has lots of video screens to try it on. it is also one of the most monitored and secured areas in new york city and that made it that much more fun :) . you can see in my video that the repeater is pretty powerful but the signal is not very stable yet. i’m working on that. i will post a new video later this week explaining how i made this prototype.
Honestly, looks like complete BS to me. I highly doubt it was that easy to hack the billboards. Check out the video yourself below!

What do you think? Real or fake?

Daylight Savings Time Glitch Has Caused Much Grief for iPhone Owners

Daylight Savings Time has stuck again! A bug that reportedly caused the iPhone’s internal clock to not adjust properly to Daylight Savings Time has resurfaced with the recent time change.

Two days ago, we told you about a glitch with the iPhone’s clock not changing to the correct time for the DST “spring forward” of one hour. At the time of the report, no one was really sure to what extent this clock glitch was affecting users.

Complaints seemed to not be as wide spread as the last time there was a DST issue, but many people were (and still are) experiencing problems with their alarm not going off at the right time…
Apple’s clock in iOS seems to be pretty broken. The iPhone’s clock and alarm app have now malfunctioned on the last two DST time changes. The alarm app also broke on January 1st of this year.

There’s still no way of objectifying the symptoms of this clock glitch, and many of you have voiced various types of complaints. We’ve seen issues with the iPhone’s clock on various carriers, including Rogers and other carriers outside of the U.S.
The glitch seems to be an iOS issue, as the problem is also not restricted to a certain generation of the iPhone.

It seems that most iPhones with this clock glitch have reset themselves to the proper time, but some users have reported that their alarm is still going off an hour earlier than it’s supposed to.
If there still seems to be something wrong with your iPhone’s clock and/or alarm, we’ve heard several methods for possible fixes. A simple restart should reset the clock, and you can also try switching the Time and Date settings from Automatic.

We’ve also heard that switching Airplane Mode on and off could fix the glitch. When the iPhone goes into Airplane Mode, the device’s radio transmitters are turned off. When Airplane Mode is turned back off, the iPhone will get a refreshed carrier update. That refresh should reset the clock to the appropriate time.

Apple has not released an official statement on this bug.

What is your experience with this recent glitch? Was your iPhone affected? If so, let us know your story below!

iPhone 5 to Have Two SIM Cards for Dual Phone Lines?

From the same website that brought us the iPhone 5 renderings comes more speculation on Apple’s new iPhone. The site, iDealsChina, is a chinese parts reseller. They don’t have a perfect track record, but they did correctly predict the iPhone 3G and iPod 4G design changes.

Their latest prediction is that the iPhone 5 will hold two SIM cards. They claim it will be for the purpose of supporting dual phone lines, but I’ve got a better guess. The iPhone 5 is rumored to include a Qualcomm Gobi cellular and data chipset. Why does that sound familar?

It’s the same chipset used in the Verizon iPhone 4, which supports both GSM and CDMA connections. What’s so special about this and the possibility of dual lines? Besides the obvious of being able to combine work and personal lines into one device, you could use dual carriers on one iPhone.

Imagine having service with Verizon and AT&T- you’d almost always have coverage. You could use AT&T for the faster data speeds, and switch over to Verizon if the service got spotty. What if the phone switched seamlessly between the 2 carriers based on coverage?

All fantasies aside, these rumors bode well for Verizon customers, whose eligibility for theiPhone 5 is still unknown. It would definitely make sense for Apple to release their next iPhone on multiple carriers, but only time will tell what the Cupertino company has in store.

Does anyone think dual lines sounds like a good idea? Is 4G more important than dual carrier capability?

Capcom Drops Street Fighter IV Down to $0.99, With All Proceeds Going to Relief Efforts in Japan

Capcom, the Japanese game publisher that’s perhaps best known for its Street Fighter series, is engaging in one of the most important fights in the company’s storied history — the fight for survival.
After the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit the island in an almost unbelievable proportion, Capcom is doing what it does best to help those in need — it’s letting characters from its most famous franchise do the fighting.
Today, the company dropped the price of Street Fighter IV for the iPhone to $0.99 and promised to donate all proceeds of the sales to relief efforts in Japan…
Along with the company’s generosity by means of App Store proceeds, Capcom will also limit the operation of its Japanese offices in order to conserve needed energy.
Of course Capcom is just the latest company to extend its support to those in need as a result of the terrible disaster that has devastated the Land of the Rising Sun.
Sympathy and condolences continuously pour out from the hearts of all iDB staff, and from our readers as well.
If you’d like to help Capcom support the cause, you can purchase and download Street Fighter IV here. Remember, if you purchase before March 22, all proceeds will go towards relief efforts in Japan.

Localscope: One of The Best Location/Navigation Apps for the iPhone [Review and Giveaway]

There’s a plethora of location-based apps to choose from in the App Store. Check-in services like Foursquare and Gowalla are popular, and there are some pretty niffty location-based search apps like Siri Assistant and Where.

Localscope, by Cynapse, is a search/navigation app that encompasses the features of most location-based tools in the App Store. By using the backend of services like Google and Twitter, Localscope allows for a more full and encompassing experience of searching for locations around you…

Localscope unites the best of the location-based search platforms inside a beautifully designed interface. Instead of relying on it’s own backend for search, it pulls from 5 popular location services.
When you open Localscope, you can search for any desired location around you and toggle through the different services to search in. Services like Google and Bing are perfect for finding a location, and services like Foursquare make it easy to see what people are actually saying about that place. You can also narrow your search results by searching in the pre-listed location categories that Localscope provides.

Once you find the location you’re looking for, Localscope offers three different methods for getting you where you need to go. The classic list view and map view are available, and you can easily open the address you’re looking for in Google Maps if you prefer that. Localscope goes the extra mile and allows you to search through augmented reality like Yelp and other similar apps.

Localscope has the best sharing and action options that I’ve ever seen in a location-based search app. Not only can you open locations in the iPhone’s Google Maps app, you can pin locations within Localscope and assign locations to contacts in your address book.

SMS, Email, Facebook and Twitter are all options for sharing locations in Localscope. The sharing works great, and it ties in beautifully with the other social elements of the app.

Localscope is one of the most well designed apps you’ll find in the location/navigation corner of the App Store. Unlike some location apps, you’ll understand how to use Localscope right away. The app combines popular iOS design elements like “pull to refresh,” and the “swipe for quick actions” feature of most Twitter apps.

I took Localscope for a test run this past weekend. I was going to a sushi bar downtown that I’d never been to before. Localscope found the restaurant I was looking for, and it was a breeze to send the location to one of my friends through SMS. I used the map feature to get to the place I needed to go, and I parked a few blocks away to see how well the augmented reality worked. Overall, the app worked great.

The features and design of Localscope make it one of the best location/navigation offerings in the App Store. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I liked it so much that it now resides on page one of my iPhone’s home screen.

Localscope is definitely worth your attention. It’s available for $1.99 in the App Store.
The people behind Localscope have been kind enough to give us four free copies to give away to iDB readers. If you’d like a free copy of Localscope, be one of the first four to comment on this review. We’ll be sending the codes through email to the four winners later today.

UPDATE: Winners have been selected!

What do you think of Localscope? Are there any similar apps that you recommend?

Apple Highlights Best AirPlay Apps in App Store

One of the exciting new features in iOS 4.3 is the universal enhancement made to AirPlay. AirPlay existed in iOS 4.2, but it was limited to native iPhone apps. With Apple’s new 4.3 firmware, developers are given access to AirPlay functionality, allowing them to incorporate it into their 3rd party apps.

AirPlay is not just limited to App Store developers either; authors of web-based applications for the iPhone will now be able to stream video to the end user’s Apple TV. App makers have been pleading with Apple for access to AirPlay APIs (Application Programming Interface) since the feature was introduced in iOS 4.2. But what makes AirPlay so exciting for develepors?

Allowing 3rd party apps to stream audio and video from your iPhone opens up all kinds of possibilities. For instance, gameplay and other aspects that are interactive with your big screen, like cut scenes and replays. If your HDTV is hooked up to a surround sound system, streaming audio from an app via AirPlay would make games like Infinity Blade a blast! (Well, more than it already is.)
Apple seems to be excited about the possibilities too, as they’ve recently made a special section in the App Store featuring AirPlay-enabled apps. These apps range from Discovery Channel HD to FitnessClass. You can actually stream workout videos from the iPhone to your TV!

It’s important to note that the third party support for AirPlay is only on 4.3, which, if you are jailbroken, you most likely aren’t using. There are, however, jailbroken applications like AirVideoEnabler that will allow AirPlay streaming from virtually any app.

Has anyone tried these AirPlay apps out? What are some more possibilities for AirPlay in future apps?

Chpwn Drops More iOS 4.3 Jailbreak Details

The jailbreak community holds its breath as iOS hackers work diligently on a 4.3 jailbreak solution. With their latest firmware, Apple introduced ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization), which is making the process a little more difficult for jailbreakers. Current jailbreak methods are available, but are extremely limited.

But things look positive as hackers Comex and i0n1c have already shown off their jailbroken iOS 4.3 devices. Now you might be wondering, “If they can jailbreak their devices, why don’t they just release it to everyone?” Well, when these guys jailbreak their devices, they don’t plug their iPhone into the computer and click a button….

Once an exploit is found, they have to test it out, make sure it’s stable. Then they need to write software that’s easy enough for the average joe to use, and make sure that it is stable. But nevertheless we hold vigilant. Especially interested are those who upgraded to iOS 4.3 early (despite our warnings), and early iPad 2 adopters.

The man behind Infinidock and the co-creator of ProSwitcher, chpwn, shed a bit more light on the topic today via Twitter. While he dismisses the Pwn2Own exploits as a jailbreak solution, he does note that comex, i0n1c, and p0sixninja have “other cool stuff.” With three hackers closing in, hopefully an official jailbreak release is on pace to be released this week. As always, stay tuned to iDB for the latest jailbreak information.

Does anyone think we’ll see the jailbreak this week?

Angry Birds Seasons: St. Patrick’s Day Edition

With millions of downloads across multiple platforms, this game will go down in history as the ultimate time waster. Well in case you’ve missed it, the latest iteration in Rovio’s smash hit series is here.

The lovable cast of pigs get a total leprechaun makeover in the newest version of Angry Birds Seasons. And with St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, this application is the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit…

If you’ve played a previous version of Angry Birds, there’s no real surprises. Like all of their ‘Seasons’ updates, there’s no real change in the gameplay, just mostly in the backdrops and the pig’s outfits. You’ll also notice nice St. Patty’s Day touches throughout the menus.
Angry Birds Seasons is available in the App Store for $0.99, or $1.99 for the HD iPad version. If you have previously purchased Angry Birds Seasons, you won’t have to buy it again. The St. Patrick’s Day update should just show up in your ‘Updates’ tab in the App Store.

Has anyone played this new version of Angry Birds Seasons? What did you think? Tell us below!

Messages App Updated in iOS 4.3, Shorter Tones and More Options

In addition to the much-awaited Personal Hotspot feature for AT&T iPhone 4 owners, Apple also updated the Messages app in iOS 4.3.

Although there are no changes to the app itself per say, Apple has updated the alert options. This includes significantly shorter SMS (text) ringtones, clearer text ringtone sounds from the speaker, and the settings for the Messages app now allow you to have alert tones repeat up to ten times at two minute intervals.

If you may recall, the text tones in iOS 4.2.1 were incredibly long, to the point where one would think these would be better ringtones than text tones. Most text tones have now been updated and are now less than a second long with improved sound clarity from the speaker.

The vibration alerts for messages have also been changed by Apple in the new OS. Before, new messages had the same short vibration as the “new mail” alert. But now, in iOS 4.3, new text messages will instead give two sharp and quite noticeable vibratory pulses.

Have you noticed any other changes in iOS 4.3? If so, drop us a line in the comments!

Ryan Petrich Teases the Next Version of Cydia, It Will Be “Awesome”

Ryan Petrich, developer of jailbreak apps like SwitcherMod and Action Menu, is helping work on the next major version of Cydia with saurik and team. Cydia 1.1 is slated to bring significant updates, and will most likely focus heavily on graphics.

While we’re not sure when Cydia 1.1 will be ready, it seems to be coming along nicely on the development side of things…

In a recent tweet, Ryan Petrich spoke to how well version 1.1 is coming along.

We can’t wait to see what “awesome” features and enhancements Cydia 1.1 brings, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we hear more about the release.

In the meantime, what do you want to see in the next version of Cydia? Multitasking? Design interface changes? Some sort of in-app package backup solution would be nice.

UPDATE: Mr. Petrich himself has commented on this article and revealed that Cydia 1.1 will offer better repo management and fix loading errors when opening Cydia. Thanks, Ryan!

Is NFC a No Go For the iPhone 5?

Back in January of this year, rumors were swirling about the possibility of Near Field Communications (NFC) technology being a part of the iPhone 5.

It’s been assumed that Apple will use the technology to allow its users to make mobile transactions, a wallet replacement of sorts that eliminates the need to carry around physical credit cards.
Now it seems like those rumors may have been a bit premature, as Apple dismisses the idea of NFC appearing in its next iPhone…

As we mentioned in our previous rumor article earlier this year, Apple would face an uphill battle with NFC due to the lack of a clear standard, and the fact that many of the world’s retailers may be hesitant about adopting the new technology.

A source mentioned in an article that recently appeared in The Independent had this to say: ”The new iPhone will not have NFC, Apple told the operators it was concerned by the lack of a clear standard across the industry.”

That’s not to say that Apple will never adopt the technology, as previous hiring patterns and patent applications show that they are clearly interested in NFC.

Are you disappointed about the rumored lack of NFC in Apple’s next iPhone?

How to SSH Into Your iPhone

First, I will explain what SSH is and why we do it. SSH (Secure Shell) allows you to exchange data between two networked devices, using a secure channel. A jailbroken iPhone has the ability to connect with your computer via SSH, giving you read and write access to your iDevice’s hard drive.
You can repair damaged files, install games that aren’t in the App Store, and even turn your iDevice into a portable hard drive. I know it all sounds complicated, but we use applications to make the process as easy as browsing a folder on your computer. This is my quick and easy guide to SSH into your iPhone….

For starters, your device must be jailbroken. You must also have an active Wi-Fi connection on both your iDevice and your computer.
Step 1: Download Cyberduck. (Windows beta version here)

Step 2: In your jailbroken iDevice, open ‘Cydia.app’ and do a search for ‘OpenSSH’. Go ahead and install it, and jump back on your computer.

Step 3: Open the Cyberduck application we downloaded earlier and click the ‘Open Connection’ button.

Step 4: In the server field you are going to type your iDevice’s IP address. This can be found by launching your ‘Settings.app’, selecting ‘Wi-Fi’, and selecting the blue arrow next to your wireless network. You should now see your IP address.

Step 5: Select the ‘SFTP’ option in the drop down menu above where you just typed in your IP address.

Step 6: In the Username field type in ‘root’. In the Password field type ‘alpine’. Click connect! You are now looking at the file system underneath Apple’s iOS!

Note: The first SSH may take a bit, after that it should be fine. If you get an ‘Unknown Host’ message, just ignore it and click ‘Allow’.

See that wasn’t so bad, was it? My last piece of advice would be BE CAREFUL. Deleting or manipulating the wrong files can turn your iPhone into a paperweight.
Does anyone use a better SSH client? What ways are you using SSH? Tell us about it below!

iPad 2 Jailbroken By Comex

Late last week, we saw our first iOS 4.3 jailbreak shown off on video by iPhone hacker @i0n1c, which claimed it to be in the “Alpha stage”.

And now, famous iPhone hacker, @Comex has found another exploit in iOS 4.3, being the very first to jailbreak the new iPad 2 with the updated bootROM. In addition to announcing it on his own Twitter account, the official @iphone_dev account has also announced Comex’s huge accomplishment.
@chpwn: by @comex: http://t.co/osP6lz
@comex: would’ve had it yesterday if I didn’t have to spend 1.5 days looking for a replacement exploit (which came from a most unexpected place…)
@iphone_dev: Congrats to @comex for jailbreaking yet another brand new device (iPad2) while 2500 miles away from it!

The picture above demonstrates the jailbreak on the new iPad 2. Although, Comex has not provided any details yet as to whether this jailbreak is an untethered jailbreak (hassle-free), or whether it works on all iDevices including the iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3, we would assume it is an untethered jailbreak for all iDevices.

We’ll keep you updated when we hear more on the jailbreak!
Anyone excited?

Phil Schiller Confirms That White iPhone 4 Will Ship “This Spring”

Could it finally be true? Could the mythical white iPhone 4 really be on the distant horizon for consumers?

According to Apple’s VP of Marketing, Phil Schiller, the white iPhone 4 will be available for purchase “this spring.” This statement corroborates an earlier comment from Apple’s co-founder, Steve Wozniak. Woz also said that the white iPhone would be available for purchase in the near future…

Phil Schiller is one of the only Apple execs that is active on Twitter, and he occasionally answers questions from his followers. Today, someone asked him how to get a white iPhone. Phil responded with a surprisingly revealing confirmation.

Mr. Schiller would definitely be considered a reliable source in this case, but something about a white iPhone 4 release in the spring just doesn’t seem right.  Even though the device is sure to be “a beauty,” why would Apple release a white iPhone 4 on the heels of an iPhone 5 announcement at WWDC in June?

It doesn’t seem right for Apple to start selling a new version of the iPhone 4 right before they announce the next generation iPhone, but Schiller’s vagueness could also mean that he is in fact referring to the iPhone 5. If you notice, he simply says “white iPhone,” and he doesn’t make a distinction as to whether he means the iPhone 4 or not.

A recent rumor from overseas claims that Apple is beginning mass production of the white iPhone 4, with a target release for April. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Do you think Apple will unveil the white iPhone 4 before the iPhone 5? My gut reaction says that Apple will do it’s best to sweep the embarrassment that is the white iPhone 4 under the rug, and release a white version of the next iPhone on launch. What do you think?

What is an SHSH Blob?

“Make sure you save your SHSH Blobs before you update,” is a pretty common saying around these parts. We’ve been asked several times lately what it is, so I figured I’d post it.

An SHSH Blob is basically what Apple uses to verify the version of iOS you are running. That’s why we tell you to save your SHSH Blobs before upgrading your firmware on your iDevice. Otherwise you might not be able to downgrade to a previous version in the event you needed to.

That is unless you managed to save your SHSH Blobs with a program like TinyUmbrella. Doing so will allow you to trick iTunes, into thinking you are running an older version.

“Cody, why can’t these SHSH Blobs just be downloaded like everything else?”  Your SHSH Blob is device specific. It uses the ECID (Exclusive Chip ID) of your device, along with a challenge key, as part of the authentication process with Apple.

Because that key is static (doesn’t change), and you’re using the same ECID, it is possible for you to save your own SHSH blob for later use. It can then be used to downgrade your iDevice if you accidentally update your firmware and there’s no jailbreak available.

Now make sure you save you SHSH blobs. If you don’t know how, this tutorial will show you how to.
So is anyone as confused as I am? Just kidding. I tried to keep it pretty simple. Does anyone have anything to add or have questions? Sound off below!

iPhone Clock Bug Resurfaces With Daylight Savings Time Glitch

The iPhone’s internal clock has been notorious for having glitches with Daylight Savings Time. This morning (2 A.M.) marked the Daylight Savings Time “spring forward” of one hour, and there have been numerous reports of the iPhone’s clock falling back an hour instead of falling forward.
Complaints starting streaming in via Twitter this morning from users who were not woken up properly by their iPhone’s alarm. While complaints vary, the general consensus seems to be that the iPhone’s clock fell back an hour at midnight instead of falling forward…

While this glitch has not affected most iPhones, it seems that the glitch is prevalent on multiple networks and iPhone models. iPhones on AT&T, Verizon, and Rogers have all been confirmed as having experienced this iOS glitch with Daylight Savings Time.

There is currently no information as to if this glitch is time-zone specific or not, and the symptoms of the glitch seem to be equally as varied.

This is not the first time the iPhone’s internal clock has had a problem with DST. The last bug reversed the current situation by pushing the iPhone’s clock an hour forward instead of falling back. The iOS alarm clock app also experienced a pretty nasty bug last New Year’s Eve.
If your iPhone’s clock is still not correct, a restart should fix the problem and reset the clock to the appropriate time.

Let us know if you’ve experienced this problem with your iPhone’s clock this morning. We’ll keep you updated as this story develops.

How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3 Using Sn0wBreeze 2.3 Beta

If you are one of the unlucky ones who upgraded to Apple’s new 4.3 and lost their jailbreak, listen up. Although i0n1c said he would be waiting for iOS 4.3.1 to come out, to release a jailbreak, iH8sn0w has decided to give us Sn0wbreeze 2.3 beta to tide us over.

So if you have an iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad or iP0d touch and are running 4.3, let me give you a simple tutorial on how to jailbreak with Sn0wbreeze

Remember this is a beta, there are dangers to upgrading to 4.3 if you haven’t already. The mobile substrate conflict we mentioned here is not corrected. And this IS a tethered jailbreak, you will need your computer every time you reboot for it to work. Finally there is no unlock for iOS 4.3, so if you are counting on that, we don’t recommend updating to 4.3.

This jailbreak is for WINDOWS users only, that’s the only OS Sn0wbreeze supports. Also, this will not work on the iPad 2.

Step 1: Make sure you have all the necessary softwares. Your iTunes needs to be up to date with 10.2.1. You need the .ipsw file of iOS 4.3 which you can get here, just select your device. Make sure to note where it downloads to.

Step 2: Next you are going to need Sn0wbreeze 2.3 Beta for Windows, which also includes iBooty 2.0 that we will use later. I recommend putting everything in a folder on your desktop to help keep organized.

Step 3: Boot up Sn0wbreeze and click the blue arrow in the bottom right of the application. Next you will choose that firmware .ipsw file you downloaded earlier by clicking “Browse”, and selecting the file from your hard drive.

Step 4: Once it’s done verifying your firmware, click next. Select ‘Expert Mode’ and then the ‘Build IPSW’ option. Don’t worry, building .ipsw files can take a while, they are close to 700MB!

Step 5: Once it says ‘Done!’, press ok. The following screen will, you guessed it, help you put your iDevice in DFU mode.
- Hold the power and Home buttons for 10 seconds
- Release the Power button while still holding the Home button for 10 more seconds and… Success!

Step 6: If you have done things correctly to this point,  Sn0wbreeze tells you to launch iTunes with your iPhone plugged in.

Step 7: Navigate to your iDevice in iTunes and hold left shift + click ‘Restore’, this should launch a browser window for you to select the custom IPSW Sn0wbreeze built for you. Select it and let iTunes restore it, this can take some time as well.

Step 8: iBooty should have been extracted to your desktop after Sn0wbreeze was done. We will be using iBooty to boot your iDevice into a tethered jailbreak. Load iBooty up and select your device from the dropdown. Now hit ‘Start’ and you will once again be walked through the DFU mode process.

Step 9: As soon as you are successfully in DFU mode, iBooty will take care of the rest. After it’s finished, your iPod touch will be booted into jailbreak mode!

Special thanks to Redmond Pie for the visual aids and the download link for Sn0wbreeze.
Has anyone jailbroken 4.3 yet? How is it running? Tell us about it below!

Sn0wbreeze 2.3 Beta Will Jailbreak iOS 4.3 on Windows

After we posted that i0n1c was going to wait until 4.3.1 to release his jailbreak, it seemed as though early iOS 4.3 adopters were left without many options. That situation changed yesterday when Sn0wbreeze 2.3 Beta was released into the wild.

iPhone hacker, iH8sn0w, decided to give Windows users a jailbreak solution for Apple’s latest 4.3 software. It is important to note that Sn0wbreeze is only available on the Windows platform, and that it is a tethered jailbreak. That means that every time you reboot your iDevice, it needs to be connected to your computer to rerun the jailbreak software…

For those of you who already upgraded to 4.3 and have a PC, this seems to be your best and only option. If this release gives you the courage to upgrade to 4.3, please understand the dangers of doing so. Also make sure you save your SHSH blobs with either TinyUmbrella, or something similar, in case you need to downgrade for any reason.

It’s important to mention that the jailbreak is not for the iPad 2, and is still in beta mode. But if you meet the criteria and are the adventurous type (or have no other options), Sn0wbreeze 2.3 Beta can be downloaded here.

Has anyone upgraded to 4.3 and tried this out? Tell us about it below!
