Enable Unicode Symbols With Vmoji

Here comes another tweak! Although this tweak has been available for jailbroken iPhones for quite some time now, I seemed to stumble upon it earlier this week and found it pretty cool!
With this tweak you’ll be able to use unicode symbols to spice up your social life. How does it work?  Simply hold down the 1-5 number keys and you will have access to universally viewable symbols that can be added to your text messages, tweets, and more.
The best part is, unlike emoji which are only viewable on some devices, the unicode symbols in Vmoji will display correctly on any mobile device or computer. The tweak is also free of charge, so that’s another thumbs up…

To get Vmoji:

1. Launch Cydia
2. Navigate to Manage > Sources > Edit > Add
3. Add this source: http://vintendo.com/
4. Then Search for “Vmoji MOD
5. Install the package and Restart Springboard
Keep in mind this tweak is still in beta, so there might be some bugs, although I have not encountered any so far.
Be sure to let us know how you like it!

Monitor App Store Price Drops With AppDeals

The fine folks at AppsFire have launched a new service called “AppDeals.” AppsFire is a popular app recommendation service that already has a successful app in the App Store.
AppDeals is “the best way to find the hottest deals on the greatest apps.”  If you like to go app hunting for cool new finds, AppDeals will help you find the discounted steals in the App Store that may have otherwise passed you by.
If you’re looking for a way to track price drops in the App Store, AppDeals is an excellent companion for your deal hunting needs…

The first thing you will notice when launching AppDeals is the unconventional streaming” tile” layout. This design maximizes the amount of discounted apps you can see at once. As apps drop in price or go free, they “push” into the stream of icons for each category.
AppDeals automatically displays the apps that are “Now Free” and worthy of your consideration. There is also a “Top Free” section in which apps are the hottest, and the “Price Drops” category (my personal favorite).
Icons are delegated into App Store categories, and you can view a specific app by simply tapping on its icon. AppsDeals is really easy to use, and it requires no settings configuration from the user.

When you tap on an icon, the App Store information for that app is displayed, along with the app’s “Firemeter” and and the current price drop. The Firemeter displays how “hot” an app currently is in the App Store. This gauge is a good way to observe how popular an app is before you buy.
AppDeals also boasts robust sharing options; you can send the deals you find to Twitter and Facebook, or share a link through email or SMS.
If you want a fluid and straightforward way to see App Store deals as they happen, this app is what you need. AppDeals is available for free in the App Store.
What do you think about AppDeals? Do you hunt for price drops in the App Store? Hopefully AppDeals can help.

GreenPois0n RC 6.1 Released to Remedy iBooks Problems

As you may have heard, Apple is beginning to get petty with their fight against the jailbreak community.
The latest strategy taken on by Apple is to prevent you from reading the books you purchased on iBooks if it detects a jailbroken iPhone.
@Comex responded first with his hilariously named “Hunnypot” solution, and now the Chronic Dev team has followed suit with the release of GreenPois0n RC 6.1

Hot off the heels of the release GreenPois0n RC 6 comes a small incremental update that puts the iBooks issues to bed.
As you’re no doubt already aware of, GreenPois0n is a tool for iPhone users that allows you to perform an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1.
Now we can reboot our iPhone’s away from home, and read the books we paid our hard earned money for. Good deal.
You can download GreenPois0n RC 6.1 here for both Windows and Mac.

Are you surprised that the jailbreak community has responded with a fix so quickly?

iPhone Nano Caught on TV

There are all sorts of rumors that Apple is working on an iPhone nano. Ellen found out it’s true, and got her hands on the new device, which has some surprising features.
Ok guys, I’m not fan of Ellen at all but I wanted to give her props for coming up with this short, yet funny segment on her show about the rumored iPhone Nano…

WhiteD00r Brings iOS 4.2 To iPhone 2G/3G And iPod Touch 1G/2G

As many of you know, with the release of iOS 4.0 Apple discontinued support for the iPhone 2G as well as the iPod Touch 1G. This left iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G stuck on iOS 3.1.3for life. Furthermore, while Apple did end up upgrading the iPhone 3G (which has the same amount of RAM/processor as the iPhone 2G), 3G owners experienced a great deal of problems after updating to 4.0. The OS was incredibly slow and was barely usable.
After various reports and angry iPhone 3G users, Apple began to look into the issue and stated the issues would be resolved in iOS 4.2.1. When iOS 4.2.1 came around, performance had been improved on the iPhone 3G, but it was still quite slow. Most users decided to downgrade/remain on iOS 3.1.3.
Enter WhiteD00r (no pun intended). The WhiteD00r project had been released in July of 2010 to provide a stable port of iOS4 while basing it off the 3.1.3 firmware. Basically, you were running a modded version of OS 3.1.3 that looked and performed exactly like iOS4. The folks behind the WhiteD00r project have recently updated the custom firmware file adding in many performance tweaks. They’ve done some really nice work!
Check out this comparison video they’ve uploaded comparing an iPhone 3G running the latest version of WhiteD00r vs stock iOS 4.2.1:

To find out more about the WhiteD00r project, including instructions on how to install it, check out their site here.
If you’re running WhiteD00r on your iDevice, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Verizon iPhone Hacked to Work in China

You technically can’t use a CDMA iPhone in China but according to this WSJ article, a few China Telecom employees managed to get the Verizon iPhone to make its first call from China.
The group of hackers that call themselves the Apple Lab Team posted this image of a Verizon iPhone on a Twitter-like site in China, commenting that the “CDMA iPhone 4 has made its first call in China”…
“Guangdong Telecom’s first iPhone 4 has been successfully jailbroken,” one post said. The “Window’s version of Greenpois0n didn’t work,” it said, referring to software used to hack Apple’s operating systems. “A switch to the Mac version of Greenpois0n was a success.”
No other information about the process was shared. Unless this is just a fake attempt at getting free publicity, this little hack might get around, so stay tuned.

iPhone 4 Named “Phone of the Year” At MWC

While Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry, they also host a Global Mobile Awards ceremony as well. The purpose of the Global Mobile Awards is to give credit to the best mobile companies, devices, and software.
This year’s “Phone of the Year” winner, was (unsurprisingly) none other than Apple’s iPhone 4. The GSMA nominees for “Phone of the Year” included the iPhone 4, the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire, along with the LG Optimus 7 running Windows Phone 7 and the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Here’s what the judges’ had to say:
“Great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smart phones.”
The funny thing is, Apple didn’t even attend the event. Aside from that, I think Apple definitely deserves the award. Now let’s see if Apple can win next year’s “Phone of the Year” award with the iPhone 5.
Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Firewall iP 2.0 Released in Cydia, A Security Center for the iPhone

Privacy on the iPhone has always been an interesting topic. Especially in the jailbreakscene, security precautions are taken very seriously.
Firewall iP recently received a major update in the Cydia store, and it boasts robust security options for your iPhone’s network connections. While its features may seem daunting to those of us that aren’t security aficionados, it’s nice to see that there’s a full-featured security suite for jailbreak users…

Firewall iP’s official description:
“Firewall iP allows you to block outgoing connections (TCP & UDP). It hooks into applications and will warn you if the app wants to establish a connection to a host and shows you the hostname. Then you have the options to allow or deny the connection once/always or allow/deny all connections for the application. Port specific blocking is possible.
You can decide if the application will send data. Developers will no longer be able to collect stats and data about you (UDID, phone number, usage statistics…). With Firewall iP, you can cover all app analytic providers which aren’t in PrivaCy and also custom analytics.
Blocking of ads is also possible with this powerful tool. Now, you are the one who decides!”
Firewall iP’s features include:
  • Block outgoing TCP & UDP connections selectively
  • Shows you the hostname for the connection & can provide you with WhoIs information
  • Block connections of apps when you are on a cellular network
  • Block analytic providers / data collectors which PrivaCy can’t
  • Block unneeded content (ads ;) )
  • Easy to use interface & control app

Firewall iP offers an editable whitelist/blacklist of hostnames to allow/deny outgoing connections. The ad blocking and analytic permissions are also nice features.
In case you didn’t know, your iPhone knows a lot about you. Developers can (and in most cases do) send your personal information from the apps you use to ad agencies for profit. If this “under the counter” transaction bothers you, Firewall iP offers more options than saurik’sPrivaCy tweak for managing these outgoing connections.
Just like Little Snitch on Mac OS X, Firewall iP has a pop-up permissions window for new, incoming connections. All permissions can be edited in the app’s main window under the “Allow” and “Deny” list.
Firewall iP is available for $3.99 in the Cydia store. The price may seem a little steep, but if you’re really into this security stuff, Firewall iP has a lot to offer.
Are you concerned with monitoring the outgoing connections on your iPhone? Some people (myself included) hold tight to the saying, “ignorance is bliss.” Do you agree?

iPhone Nano Concept – “Squeeze” to Close Apps

There have been multiple rumors surfacing lately that Apple is working on a smaller iPhone “Nano.” The device is rumored to have a smaller form factor and use cloud-based storage(possibly in accordance with a revamp of MobileMe).
iPhone Nano concepts have been floating around since the rumors gained traction, and a design concept by Max Rudberg stands out from the rest. Max runs Max Themes, and has developed popular jailbreak themes (such as Glasklart and Serious SBSettings).
Max came up with a very interesting concept for how a smaller iPhone Nano could operate without a home button…
Max theorized that a smaller iPhone with an “edge-to-edge” screen would need a new and intuitive way to return to the home screen. If the iPhone Nano does in fact have no home button, a new method will have to be put in place for initiating the home screen. Instead of multitouch gestures, Max imagined what it would look like to literally squeeze the sides of the iPhone to close apps.
Max details his idea,
“If a phone were to be designed with an edge-to-edge screen, it would lack a hardware home button on the front. Therefore it would require a new way to go to the Home screen. Advanced gestures often requires two hands, which is not optimal for such a frequently used feature.
A more intuitive way could be to equip the phone with a pressure-sensitive body. The phone could then be squeezed and the current app would shrink and return the user to the Home screen.
This could be a real wow effect. Seeing how the phone reacts to your grip and then having the app vanish in the palm of your hand.
To avoid ‘squeeze to go Home’ from happening by accident, a visual cue could show that pressure is being applied. In this concept, the app begins to shrink to reflect the pressure that is being applied. When the pressure goes over a defined threshold, the user is returned to the Home screen.
The strength of a users grip will of course vary. Therefore, a setting for how much pressure that’s needed before an app is exited could be a good idea.”
Sounds pretty cool, huh? Here’s a video demonstrating how this concept would work:

I’m not sure how Apple would be technically able to make a concept like this possible, but I think Max definitely has something with this idea.
What do you think about the idea of “squeezing” the sides of an iPhone to initiate the home screen?

App Store Previews Now Showing on Twitter

Twitter has integrated App Store previews into its website for tweets containing links to iOS apps. If you tweet a link to the App Store, Twitter.com will automatically show a preview of the app with a description and screenshots.
This new feature allows for easy viewing of apps in tweets before being redirected to iTunes. The previews are only available on Twitter’s website…
Macgasm points out Twitter’s new feature,
“Much like iTunes music, Apple has brought apps directly to the Twitter website. If you use Twitter’s web application instead of a native Twitter client, you’re going to start noticing direct links to purchase and download apps from Apple’s App Store.  The listings also now come complete with screenshots and app descriptions.”
tried tweeting an App Store link with a shortened URL, and Twitter still recognized the iTunes link.

The preview window is only viewable when you click on a tweet through Twitter.com, don’t just click the link in your timeline.
Kudos for such a nifty feature, Twitter!

‘Mail Enhancer’ for iPhone Gives You a Crazy Amount of Email Customization Options

In itself, the iPhone’s email works fairly well. It’s simple, and reliable. In fact it’s almost too simple, being devoid of many customization options that you think would be a no-brainer.
Mail Enhancer is a jailbreak tweak that aims to provide your iPhone’s email with some much needed depth in the way of customization.
As you’ll see inside, it more than lives up to its name…

Once you install Mail Enhancer, prepare to spend some significant time configuring it to your liking using the Settings.app.
First there’s signatures, you can enable or disable custom signatures that support HTML. Not only that, but the tweak features the ability to have a different signature per email address.

Mail Enhancer is smart enough that it automatically recognizes which email addresses you have configured on your iPhone, and will assign each signature accordingly.
The second major way that Mail Enhancer spruces up your email is by way of custom notifications. These too can be enabled or disabled at the touch of a button.

The custom notifications consist of vibrate, sound, speech, and popup. The ‘sound’ option is by far the most intriguing, as it allows you to assign iTunes ringtones as incoming mail notifications.
To top all of that off, Mail Enhancer will even recognize HTML code placed into the body of your email, and prompt you on whether of not you wish convert that email to HTML format. Impressive.

Really, I just touched upon the high level aspects of Mail Enhancer. This is an extremely deep tweak that could theoretically have you tinkering with its settings for hours on end.
At its current price-point Mail Enhancer is a steal. It’s rare that a tweak comes along that offers such fine-grained control like this one does. Other developers should really take a page out of this tweak’s book when it comes to the amount of control that it lends the user.
If you have a jailbroken iPhone, you can purchase Mail Enhancer on Cydia for $1.99.
Have you tried it yet?

Sn0wBreeze Jailbreak for iPhone 4.2.1 is Out

Looks like the main jailbreak devs talked to each other today to release their jailbreak tools altogether around the same time. About an hour after the Dev Team announced the release of their PwnageTool jailbreak for iPhone 4.2.1, and now iH8Sn0w is releasing Sn0wBreeze 2.2.
Just like PwnageTool, Sn0wBreeze is a jailbreak tool that allows you to update your iPhone to the latest firmware, and jailbreak while preserving your baseband and your ability to unlock…

White iPhone 4 Coming Soon?

When will the white iPhone 4 be available? That’s the eternal question that hopefully will get an answer sooner rather than later. Maybe even sooner than we thought. If you go toVodafone UK‘s website right now, you can see an iPhone 4 in white color labeled as “coming soon”.
So what is this? A marketing stunt from Vodafone to get a little attention, or a clear sign that the unicorn white iPhone 4 is right around the corner? Your guess is as good as mine…
So what do you think?

QuickSnap Aims to Be the Right Jailbreak App For Documenting Random Things

It’s happened to all of us, we’re in a store, we see something, or some piece of information that we’d like to use later, and so we take a picture of it with our phone.
That’s okay and all, but the problem starts to appear when you have more random note-taking pictures than actual pictures that you plan on keeping in your Camera Roll.
I know I’ve found myself having to perform a search and rescue mission for my real pictures amongst the massive amounts of random litter on plenty of occasions, maybe you suffer from this syndrome as well?
That’s why a jailbreak app like QuickSnap seemed so appealing to me; it’s described as “simple photo taking without saving.” Does it live up to its claims?

In some ways it does, but in most ways it’s just kind of weak when you consider some of the options already available out there.
First and foremost, my beef with QuickSnap stems from the fact that it’s an actual app and not a tweak. That means yet another app icon on my Home screen that I have to remember that’s there.
It’s not a deal breaker, but it would have been nice if the developer could have somehow come up with similar functionality by means of a tweak.
Secondly, QuickSnap’s methodology is just flawed in my opinion. It takes photos, but as soon as you close out of the app completely, that photo is gone, forever.

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather run the risk of filling up my Camera Roll, instead of later regretting the deleting of an image that I found out I needed.
Third, a free App Store App like Evernote is a fine piece of note taking software that does exactly what QuickSnap does, only it’s much deeper, and easier to organize.
I can see why the developer of QuickSnap decided to develop his app the way he did; it’s just that for my needs, and likely the needs of a lot of you, it doesn’t cut the cake.
Nevertheless, QuickSnap is free on Cydia if you have possession of a jailbroken iPhone, so I encourage you to decide for yourself.

WSJ Confirms iPhone Nano Rumor, Will Also Have Edge to Edge Screen and Voice Navigation

Last week, we reported on a new rumor that Apple was working on a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone (aka iPhone Nano) to increase market share against Google’s Android handsets. Today, the Wall Street Journal confirms that according to their sources, Apple is indeed working on a less pricey version of the iPhone.
The Wall Street Journal claims that the new, smaller iPhone will be available “at about half the price of Apple’s main line of iPhones.” The smaller iPhone is said to be sold alongside Apple’s main line of phones, which will provide consumers with more options.
The report also mentions that this new iPhone will be significantly lighter and will have an “edge-to-edge” screen, along with voice-based navigation for Maps. WSJ’s source also claims that Apple plans to upgrade the iPhone 4 as well.
The person who saw the prototype of the new iPhone said the device was significantly lighter than the iPhone 4 and had an edge-to-edge screen that could be manipulated by touch, as well as a virtual keyboard and voice-based navigation. The person said Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., also plans to upgrade the iPhone 4.
Would you rather buy a cheaper, stripped down version of the iPhone? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Everything You Need to Know About “Safe Mode” on a Jailbroken iPhone

Did you know that the iPhone had a “Safe Mode?” Safe Mode on the iPhone has been apart of jailbreaking for years now, but many people still don’t understand it. If your iPhone is jailbroken, Safe Mode will be invoked when MobileSubstrate (the Cydia support framework) crashes.
Desktop operating systems, like Windows and Mac OS X, have had a “Safe Mode” for a long time. On the desktop, safe mode is used for removing corrupted processes that may be causing the operating system to not function properly.
The iPhone has a “Safe Mode” for that exact same reason. A simple Cydia app called “Safe Mode Launcher” allows you to invoke the iPhone’s Safe Mode with one tap. Let’s take a look…

The official description of Safe Mode Launcher,
“A simple utility to put your device into MobileSubstrate Safe Mode. You now no longer have to have SBSettings to put your device into Safe Mode! Useful if you want to uninstall a troublesome MobileSubstrate Addon.
This will install a new icon on your home screen. There are no options to configure.”
In SBSettings, Safe Mode can be initiated through the “Power” option. Safe Mode is listed alongside all of the other Power options.

Safe Mode Launcher sits as an icon on your home screen and boots your iPhone into Safe Mode with one tap. Once Safe Mode is running, you are safe to troubleshoot or delete MobilSubstrate addons that may be causing you trouble.
You may still be wondering why Safe Mode is important. A jailbroken iPhone boots into Safe Mode whenever a jailbreak extension is causing iOS to not work properly.
As you’ll notice in the Safe Mode menu, MobileSubstrate invokes Safe Mode to protect you from harmful processes running on your iPhone. For example, a newly installed jailbreak tweak could be (either intentionally or not) tampering with root files that could cause your build of iOS to be corrupted.

Once you jailbreak your iPhone, whether through SSH or other means, jailbreak extensions and addons have access to the root files of iOS. That can result in the occasional conflict when an extension oversteps its bounds or does not function the way it should at the root level.
If your iPhone has been entering Safe Mode frequently, you most likely have a MobileSubstrate addon that is not functioning properly. Safe Mode disables all jailbreak extensions, addons, etc. so that you can either troubleshoot or remove the process that you think may be causing the issue.
Safe Mode is pretty easy to boot back out of. Once your iPhone is in Safe Mode, you can reboot back to normal by tapping the “Restart” option in the MobileSubstrate menu. If you can’t find the menu, tap the “Exit Safe Mode” text at the top center of the iPhone’s status bar. A hard restart of iOS with the iPhone’s power button should disable Safe Mode too.
If it takes multiple attempts to get your iPhone out of Safe Mode, you have a serious problem. Remove or disable all of the jailbreak processes you can to see which is causing the problem.
Safe Mode isn’t pretty, and sadly it’s a symptom of jailbreaking that we all have to deal with. The good thing is that Safe Mode is there to protect your iPhone from harmful processes, so don’t get mad next time your Springboard crashes. Instead, by thankful that Cydia’s MobileSubstrate is smart enough to know when to protect you from a problem.
Safe Mode Launcher is available for free in the Cydia store. Give it a try if you want the freedom to safely troubleshoot your jailbroken iPhone.
Has your iPhone ever entered Safe Mode? Have you been experiencing the problem of your Springboard regularly crashing? If so, check your installed Cydia packages to try and find the culprit.

How to Remove the GreenPois0n Animated Boot Logo

When it was released a little over a week ago, the GreenPois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 came with a nice surprise: animated boot logos. We already saw how to add an animated boot logo to your iPhone, and today, we’re going to see how to remove this custom logo.
This is a fairly easy process which will require about a minute of your time, depending on how fast Cydia loads for you at the moment…

To remove your animated boot logo:

  1. Search and download “Apple Boot Logo” from Cydia
  2. Once installed, go to Settings > BootLogo > Apple Logo
This will bring back the stock Apple logo. If you ever want to go back to the GreenPois0n boot logo, you can always do so by following the steps above and selecting “Chronic Dev” instead.
And remember that there are now dozens of animated boot logos available on Cydia. You might find the perfect one for you there by doing a simple search.

Rumor: iPhone Nano Will Be Totally Cloud-Based

Rumors regarding the mysterious “iPhone Nano” have been surfacing everywhere lately. Speculation started gaining some traction last week, with a report from Bloomberg saying that Apple has been working on a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone.
The Wall Street Journal recently corroborated and added some details to Bloomberg’s report. According to the WSJ, the “iPhone Nano” will be considerably smaller than the current iPhone and heavily rely on Apple’s MobileMe service.
More rumors have emerged regarding the iPhone Nano…
Cult of Mac reports from an “inside source,”
“Firstly, according to our source (who asked to remain anonymous), Apple has been working on a smaller, mass-market iPhone for a long time. But to do that, Apple had to figure out a way to strip away some of the components to reduce both its size and cost.
Apple decided to lose some of the memory, which is by far the most expensive component of the iPhone. By “some” of the memory, we mean ALL of the memory. The iPhone nano will have no memory for onboard storage of media, our source says. It will have only enough memory to buffer media streamed from the cloud.
“I’m talking strictly storage memory here,” said our source.”
A totally cloud-based iOS is not hard to imagine. Especially considering Apple’s purchase of the Lala.com streaming company. Apple could be waiting for this summer’s WWDC conference to introduce a cloud-based iTunes that words in tandem with MobileMe.
Cult of Mac also had something to say about MobileMe,
“The iPhone nano will pull ALL it’s content from MobileMe. When users buy a movie or TV show on iTunes, it’s available to stream to their iPhone or iPad. The service is based on technology from LaLa.com, a streaming service that Apple bought last spring and then shut down.
“It would be a mostly cloud-based iOS,” said our source.”
If MobileMe does become the backbone of iOS on the iPhone Nano, it would be difficult to imagine that Apple would keep MobileMe at the price it currently costs. Rumors of a free MobileMe have been circulating for quite some time, and perhaps Apple will finally make its cloud-based sync and email service free this summer.
If the iPhone Nano does in fact have no memory storage, pictures and video taken with the camera would have to be auto-uploaded to the cloud immediately. AT&T and Verizon should be shaking in their boots at the prospect of that.
What do you think about a completely cloud-based, smaller version of the iPhone? I doubt Apple would discontinue the regular version of the iPhone, but a smaller and cheaper iPhone “Nano” could help Apple further saturate the mobile market.

ManualCorrect Puts Your iPhone’s Auto Correct in Check

I don’t believe there’s one feature on the iPhone that angers me as much as auto correct. It’s always misinterpreting what I’m trying to type, usually with ridiculous results.
Auto correct on the iPhone will turn a phrase like “Let’s go have lunch” into “Keep on step eagle.” I know, that makes no sense whatsoever, and that’s my point.
Fortunately for us, the jailbreak community has had enough of this utter nonsense as well, as evident by the release of ManualCorrect

ManualCorrect is essentially the reverse of auto correct. If you misspell a word while typing with ManualCorrect installed, instead of automatically correcting the word, it will offer a suggestion.
It will not auto correct the word for you, but it will highlight a misspelling so that you can identify any mistakes you made, and manually correct them later, hence the name.

Now you might be wondering, why not just disable auto correct and be done with it? The reason is, if you disable auto correct outright, you won’t receive suggestions mid-typing, and you won’t receive suggestions after the fact.
Turning off auto correct is a lose-lose proposition unless you possess impeccable grace with the iPhone’s keyboard.

ManualCorrect is a jailbreak tweak that has definitely found a permanent home on my iPhone, and I’d consider purchasing it, if it weren’t already free on Cydia for jailbroken iPhones.
What do you think about this tweak?

PhoneHint Lets You Browse Your Contacts from Inside the iPhone Dialer

Another day, another reason to jailbreak your iPhone if you haven’t already. The latest tweak is called PhoneHint. PhoneHint lets you do a quick contact search right inside the iPhone dialer.
Here’s how it works. Simply, swipe left to right over the dialer’s number display to select the right contact, then double tap to select the number. I can see this tweak saving me lots of time, especially when I’m rummaging through my Recent Calls list trying to find the right contact. PhoneHint does not add any new icons to your homescreen and can be configured from the Settings app.
One of the things iPhone was missing is now there! Quick contacts search from the Mobile Phone keypad! Just swipe Left / Right over the dialer’s number display to select the right contact, then double tap to select the number
No new icons are added to your homescreen. You can configure PhontHint from Settings.app
PhoneHint requires iOS 4.0 or later and is available in the Cydia Store for $1.99 via the Big Boss repository.
To see a demonstration of this tweak in action, check out the video below!

Signs Point to a February 28 Release of iOS 4.3

If you’ve been patiently waiting for iOS 4.3, this might come as a good or bad news, depending on how you look at it. If that’s any indication of the future iOS 4.3 release, the fine folks of this German website came across information that suggests Apple’s latest iOS might be available to the general public on February 28.
This speculation is based on the fact that The Daily iPad app which was having a free trial until today, extended their trial period to February 28. Because The Daily is supposed to come on a subscription model which will be only available on iOS 4.3, it is safe to believe this firmware will come out on or around 2/28/11…
Developers haven’t been seeded the iOS 4.3 GM yet so there’s still time ahead of us before iOS 4.3 drops.

An iPhone 5 with a Slideout Keyboard?

tw.Apple.pro, a Taiwanese website that has a pretty good track record of publishing leaked information about Apple products, claims today that Cupertino has been evaluating 3 different hardware prototypes of the iPhone 5, one of them including a slideout keyboard
A second prototype apparently would be what the iPhone 3GS was to the iPhone 3G: a similar-looking but improved model. This version of the iPhone 5 would be the same as the iPhone 4, but would have a bigger battery and an improved camera lens…
While I don’t see a slideout keyboard on an iPhone anytime soon (except maybe on the iPhone Nano?), a slightly improved version of the iPhone 4 wouldn’t surprise me, even if deep inside me, I really want to see a new design for the iPhone 5.
What do you think?

GreenPois0n RC6 JailBreak iOS 4.2.1 For Mac & Windows

Right Now , GreenPois0n RC6 JailBreaks iOS 4.2.1 which is the ultimate jailbreak and doesnot require to jailbreak on every restart. GreenPois0n RC6 JailBreak iOS 4.2.1 For Mac & Windows has been released by the GreenPoison JailBreak Team.
